Product Review: Produce Bag from Reusablebags.com

(Originally posted in Nov but worth a re-post. I will be back next week with more original posts. Happy New Year!)

When I use a product, knowing that I am going to be reviewing it, I pay special attention to the cons of the product because I want to be sure that I give a fair assessment of the product.

When I used the Organic Cotton Mesh Produce/Snack bags from Reusablebags.com I can honestly say that I did not find any cons with this product. I used the sturdy large bag (17" H x 13" W) for apples (yes, just like they show in the picture) and the small bag (10" H x 8" W) for an onion. They both worked great! I put the items into the bags and pulled the draw string. It was as easy as that!

(It felt so good to not be putting my organic apples into a plastic bag that would then go into my reusable shopping bag)

The cotton bags do weigh a little more than regular plastic bags (Large = 0.09 lb & Small = 0.04 lb) but the weight was not significant enough to add a noticeable amount to the total cost of the items. The store that I was shopping at gave me a discount for using the reusable produce bags which more than covered the added weight of the bag.

The Organic Cotton Mesh Produce bags are also machine washable (air dry only) which is another nice feature.

You can purchase the bags as a set or individually and 1% of the sale will go to the preservation and restoration of the natural environment because Reusablebags.com is a member of 1% for the Planet (another feel good feature)

In addition to being a great place to purchase green items, Reusablebags.com is also a great source for facts, figures, and information:

  • Each year the U.S. consumes over 380 billion plastic bags, sacks and wraps
  • Plastic bags are among the 12 items of debris most often found in coastal cleanup
  • Plastic bags don't biodegrade, they photodegrade - breaking down into smaller and smaller toxic bits contaminating soil and waterways and entering the food web when animals accidentally ingest

I highly recommend purchasing a few of these Organic Cotton Mesh Produce/Snack bags for your next shopping trip. I absolutely love the ones I have and am placing an order today for more!

Go Green: Use reusable bags for all your shopping trips!
