Last week I received a surprise package in the mail from the very cool folks at TerraCycle (I seriously love these guys, they crack me up). In my surprise package was a bottle of my very own Worm Poop (and other great goodies that I will be reviewing soon) and a new, un-read book! (Thanks guys, you are the best!) My son was very happy about this too cuz now he gets to keep my copy for a little light summer reading.
"...Read this book. I’m glad I did." —Ben Cohen, founder, Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream.
Let me start by saying that anyone who can get a review from a founder of the world's best ice cream is a book worth reading. ;-)
Revolution in a Bottle is funny, informative, easy to read, and inspirational! "TerraCycle’s growth has been rapid but perilous, filled with seemingly insurmountable challenges, several near-failures, and a whole lot of worm poop."
To really get a feel for how the book reads you can download the introduction Here.
Keeping to the TerraCycle theme, the book jacket can be formed into a postage paid pouch for upcycling Bear Naked product wrappers. The book itself was published on 100% recycled paper and printed in the United States.
Tom does a great job at sharing the ups, downs, and lucky breaks that he has had along the way. He really makes reading about worm poop entertaining.
The book is also filled with facts and figures and reasons why upcycling is so important for us, for the environment, and for companies in general. I think that one of the things that I liked best about the book is that it is more than just a story of a company, it is a story of a personal journey, of a young man giving up a "sure thing" to follow a dream!
Pst, don't tell anyone but in the end, TerraCycle becomes wildly successful! It turns out that dropping out of Princeton University was probably the right thing for Tom to do.
Here is your chance to read about TerraCycle growth and how its founder, Tom Szaky, is at the forefront of eco-capitalist movement!
Here is how to win your very own copy of Revolution in a Bottle:
- Simply leave me a comment telling me why you want this book.
- My 8 year old son and I will read the comments and pick one.
