Seventh Generation Under the Sink Makeover Contest + Healthy Home Kit Giveaway

This giveaway is now closed. Congrats to the winner: The Mangerchine's

Recently I was asked to help spread the word about a contest that Seventh Generation is hosting. With one of the grand prizes being a trip to an Eco-Spa how could I resist!

Here is the scoop:

Seventh Generation is hosting an “Under the Sink Makeover Contest from July 22 to August 14, 2009 that asks you to reveal your best friend’s dirtiest secrets – those hiding under the kitchen sink, that is!

With the area under the kitchen sink as a family’s typical dumping ground for chemical products, Seventh Generation wants families nationwide to know about – and detox – this potentially hazardous area, usually within arm’s reach of kids.

The “Under the Sink Makeover Contest” is seeking nominations on www.SeventhGeneration.com/under-the-sink through August 14, for under the kitchen sink areas that are in desperate need of organization and detoxification.

  • Submit a photo of the area under a friend’s sink
  • and a 250-word description on why they deserve an under the sink makeover (e.g., she’s concerned for the health of her family and the environment, the area under her sink a toxic wasteland, she’s overwhelmed by the chaos of motherhood and wants to change but doesn’t know where to begin, etc.),

for a chance to win great prizes!

One lucky grand prize winner will receive a package that includes:

  • An in-home consultation at the friend’s house with Dr. Alan Greene, practicing pediatrician and specialist in green living
  • A one year supply of Seventh Generation products for both the entrant and the friend in need
  • A trip to New York City for the entrant and her friend that includes a one-night stay at the W New York – Times Square hotel
  • A day of pampering at New York’s Green Spa that will include a Body Polish, Wellness Massage, Ocean Vegan Spa Manicure/Pedicure along with a one hour make-up application and lesson

Four other finalists and their friends will receive:

  • A Seventh Generation Living Home Starter Kit containing a variety of home-cleaning products for their own under the kitchen sink makeover
  • A luxurious Lavera home spa kit containing Lavera’s customer favorite BODY SPA shower gel, body scrub and bath salts, and premium LAVERÉ Anti-Aging body lotion to pamper themselves.

I am pretty sure that your friend would gladly let you take pictures of the dirty little secrets hiding under their kitchen sink for the chance to win these prizes (I know I would!)

Great giveaway! I actually have used many of these products and can honestly say they are great and I would love to replenish my supply! As for my dirty little secret (and I hate to even admit it) is I have some of those disposable disinfectant wipes that I use from time to time :( I'm working on using them less and using cloths and natural cleaners instead...but not 100% there yet!

Thanks for the giveaway! I have quite a few dirty little secrets. I have recently been making the switch to "greener" products. I still have almost all of my products under there that have nasty chemicals that I want to keep my kids away from!

A friend forwarded this link because she knows the dirty truth. I want to be green. Oh, how I want it... But I am an overworked lawyer and a creature of habit. I am also a packrat and I have gallons of extra poison waiting to be used. Sadly, my step-daughter gets excited to clean because she wants to "spray the poison."

My husband is a true believer that only toxic chemicals work. He will not dry his hands with a towel in the kitchen. It must be a paper towel. He will only clean with paper towels, no many how many rags I have.

I want to break this nasty cycle. I have a number of chronic illnesses. My husband and step-son have bad allergies. Just today, my cat was diagnosed with allergies. I hate cleaning the bathroom because of the toxic fumes headache that follows. It is time for change, but I feel bad since I have an arsenal of poison waiting to be used.

Here's the one that hurts the most: My hubby will take oven cleaner, like easy off, to clean the broiler pan that he then cooks our food on. I need help!

My dirty little secret under my kitchen sink includes partially used containers of not-so-green products and my collection of odds-and-end jars and lids for discarding kitchen grease from cooking (so it doesn't go down the drain and clog my sink)

My dirty little secret about under my kitchen sink is the complete MESS! It's kinda ironic that the place I store all my cleaning stuff is such a mess, and kinda dirty too. There's NO organization, ring stains from leaky bottles, spilled baking soda all over and all the reusable bottles I mean to clean out & re-use, but....oh well!

I'm now a subscriber. Great site!
