I am very excited to tell you that my family and I just sent off our first shipment of 200+ non-recyclable Cliff/Luna bar wrappers to TerraCycle !
The whole process was so easy. I just collected the wrappers, placed them in the UPS pouch that Terracycle sent me, placed the pre paid label on the pouch, dropped the pouch off at my local UPS store. Easy Peasy.
The process has been made a little easier with Terracycle's new web site which allows you to print your own labels.
My family's Cliff bar wrappers, which normally would have gone into the landfill, are now going to be turned into useful, usable items like this cool looking purse.
In addition to the energy bars, TerraCycle also has brigades for:
- Drink Pouches
- Cookie Wrappers
- Chip Bags
- Scotch Tape Dispensers
- Corks
- Yogurt Containers
- Aveno Tube
- Bear Naked Bags
- Kashi Products
- Toasted chips
- Candy bar wrappers
Depending on the item that you send, you can earn between 2 and 25 cents for a non-profit organization of your choice (including schools).
I am amazed at the ingenious ways that TerraCycle has upcycled waste. My son cannot wait to return to school toting his capri sun backpack! He can't wait to tell all his friends about the backpack.
Terracycle recently launched a new website that includes a very informative introduction by CEO Tom. Take a look/listen and hear what he has to say. It really is a novel concept that is quickly catching on.
And while your there, don't forget to sign up for a brigade or two ;-)

I signed up for one of them but I'm on a waiting list. :( I hope they let me do it soon as I'm running out of space to save the items lol.
They do seem to be pretty popular these days....if you have any energy bar wrappers you can send them to me and I can include them with my next shipment ;-)
I recently got one of their bags at an event. Such a cool ideal
Thanks for bringing TerraCycle to my attention!
I am a big fan of this company. I just think the concept is pretty cool. Enjoy your bag Nicole!
Your welcome etirv. Tell them you heard about them here ;-)
That is so awesome. I just love TerraCycle, and should join the yogurt brigade.
I highly recommend it Kathleen! I just can’t say enough good things about this company. Plus all the interaction that I have had with them has been fun and positive. If you have any breakfast bar wrappers you can send them my way and I can include them in my brigade ;-)
